Jukebox Reels
Drop a coin in the slot and three records spin up on the turntables. When they settle, each label shows a picture from the diner. Line up three of a kind, or catch a hit record, and the jukebox pays out.

Choose how many coins per play, then press the button.

How it plays
Each of the three records has 20 grooves, and every groove carries one picture. When you press play, each record stops on one groove chosen at random with equal chances, completely independently of the others and of anything that happened before. There is one line, straight across the middle.
Only the best combination is paid. A single hit record gives your coins back, which we count as a stake returned rather than a win. Pies and milkshakes count together for the mixed line as long as all three labels show one or the other.

How it pays, with the exact odds
Three records with 20 grooves each give 8,000 equally likely results. This table counts every one of them.
| Line | Returns | Results out of 8,000 | Chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Three hit records | ×200 | 1 | 0.0125% |
| Three guitars | ×60 | 8 | 0.1% |
| Three convertibles | ×40 | 8 | 0.1% |
| Three pairs of sunglasses | ×12 | 64 | 0.8% |
| Three milkshakes | ×8 | 125 | 1.5625% |
| Three cherry pies | ×5 | 216 | 2.7% |
| Any two hit records | ×10 | 57 | 0.7125% |
| Any mix of pies and milkshakes | ×2 | 990 | 12.375% |
| One hit record | ×1 | 1,083 | 13.5375% |
| Nothing | 0 | 5,448 | 68.1% |
Add it all up and the jukebox returns 7,481 coins for every 8,000 played: an average return of 93.51%. Something comes back on 31.9% of plays, but over many plays the machine keeps about 6.5 coins in every 100.
