Let It Ride

Let It Ride

Three equal bets go down, three cards come your way and two more wait face down in the middle. Take back the first bet or let it ride, see a shared card, decide on the second, and the third always stays for the showdown.

How a hand goes

  1. Pick a unit of 5, 10 or 25 coins. Pressing Deal places three bets of that size, so a hand starts at 15, 30 or 75 coins.
  2. You receive three cards. Two community cards are dealt face down; they count as part of your hand.
  3. Having seen your three cards, either pull back bet 1 (it returns to your tab) or let it ride.
  4. The first community card is turned over. Now pull back bet 2 or let it ride. This choice is yours even if you pulled back bet 1.
  5. The second community card is turned. Bet 3 can never be pulled back.
  6. Your best five-card poker hand is paid on every bet still riding, using the table above. Below a pair of tens, the riding bets are lost.

The deck is a single 52-card pack, shuffled fresh before every hand. There is no dealer hand to beat and no other players: you only play against the pay table. The full walk-through, with strategy, lives in our Let It Ride guide.

How it pays, with the exact odds

The chances below count every possible five-card hand from a 52-card deck, all 2,598,960 of them. Your pull-back choices change how much is riding, not which cards arrive.

We ran every possible starting hand through a computer, choosing the better option at both decisions. Played that way, Let It Ride gives back on average 96.49% of one bet unit per hand, so the house edge is 3.51% of a unit. Because good play pulls back bets most of the time (on average only about 1.22 units stay out until the end), the edge measured against coins actually left at risk is about 2.86%. Guessing, or letting everything ride every time, costs a lot more.

A paying hand always pays at least 1 to 1, so any paying hand puts coins on your tab. If every riding bet is lost, the status line tells you how many coins went to the house.
